Progress is only counted on the CTA rail system. Metra, Pace, Pulse, and CTA Bus transit options will NOT qualify towards your score and will result in immediate disqualification.
An active run must be kept in motion at all times. If a run is stationary at a platform for longer than 60 seconds, the run is completed at the time and place time has expired. No further progress can be submitted after that point.
EXCEPTION TO THE RULE: Single players (players operating as an individual and not as a team) are eligible for pauses in their runs to account for refreshments and restroom breaks. When a single player leaves a fare zone to transfer to another line, time is paused, but 15 seconds are allotted to restart the run. You must time your re-entry between farecard tap and boarding a train within the allotted restart time to continue the run. Examples of eligible stations include:
Block 37 Pedway transfer - Washington (Blue) to Lake (Red)
State/Lake transfer - Lake (Red) to State/Lake (Green, Pink, Brown, Orange)
Jackson/Harold Washington transfer - Lake (Red OR Blue) to Harold Washington Library (Pink, Brown, Orange)
Train delays are a part of normal operations on the CTA. Trains stopped on the tracks or at a station will NOT count as a stop or end your run.
IF A TRAIN IS STOPPED ON THE TRACKS - report your run number and the delay location to the Discord channel. Your run will continue as expected. Run number can be collected from the CTA train tracker website
IF A TRAIN IS STOPPED AT THE STATION - your timer only accounts for standing time at the platform. Time spent on a stopped train, regardless of boarding or deboarding, will not contribute to stopped time. You will still need to provide proof of transfer 3 including the transition from departing the stopped train or boarding the next stopped train.
Players are allowed to form teams. Teams are limited to 5 players per team. Each team is only allowed to submit one run.
Members of each team are not required to be active participants in the run at all times. As long as at least one player is actively tracking the run at any given point, the run is valid. There are no restrictions to how members of each team travel when outside of the active run.
To track the run, players must:
Record and send all train transfers (leaving the train to boarding a new one) in the Discord immediately after transfer or as soon as able
Track the location of the active run with an app [Strava or Apple Fitness]. Only one run track is accepted per team, so only one device can be used to track the run.
You may start and end your run at any time, however:
Runs cannot be restarted.
All runs must be started AFTER 10AM.
All runs must be finalized BEFORE 8PM. If you are on a train before 8PM, you MUST deboard at the next stop and record your final deboarding.
Runs submitted with invalid start/end times or are subject to immediate disqualification or adjustment of score in the case of final deboarding.
Proof of initial boarding and proof of final deboarding must also be submitted for each run between those times.
Proof of initial CTA station entry (video of entry through turnstile or gate) must also be submitted to confirm entry occurred after 10AM and players are not already aboard a train.
If you are eliminated, submission of failed transfer must be submitted immediately and your final route must be submitted within 5 minutes. Failure to do so will result in disqualification
Final submissions must be sent in the Discord before 8:15PM local time.
